The Manitowac Maritime Museum in Manitowac WI is a great overall destination. Last time I was there in 2002 the tours of the Cobia where being conducted by a gentleman who had actualy served on the Cobia who gave a lot ot of insite as to life aboard the ship. 

Also the local radio club used to run a station aboard the ship during the ships on the air special event. I had once been invited to come aboard and operate overnight on the ship but at that time I weighed 278 pounds. Being 6'-5" and 278# on a sub just isn't pleasant. Although now at 200# I might be a better fit!
