[Milsurplus] BC-625-A and list archives

Hi Everybody,

I opened a milsurplus unit I have had lying around for a number of
years to finally see what is inside. There was no ID on the outside
but inside I found the tag that says it is a BC-625-A transmitter. It
looks like the contract date is 1942. I have been unable to find
anything on the web aside from a hint that it is part of an IFF
system. This unit has obviously been modified and appears to now be a
VHF-AM xtal controlled transmitter. Does anybody have more information
about what this thing really was/is.

I can't find a handy way to search our archives on bc625a (or any
other search terms). The FAQ and help files don't have info that I can
find. Did I overlook something? Is there some way to do that kind of
search?
