I have a BC-348Q that I bought a year or so back at a hamfest that had
been hacked. I removed the poor quality hack work, then installed a AC
power supply where the missing dynamotor deck is, installed a low
impendence output transformer although the previous owner did a hack job
on that too so ended up replacing all that with new plate to low Z
output transformer and then installed the “CQ Surplus Conversion Manual”
S meter circuit and have to say that that radio is way better to use
then the all original BC-348R that I had owned. I my opinion that radio
is way more desirable to band cruse then the original version, but keep
in mind that I started with a hacked radio in the first place and I can
clearly understand many have the desire to have theirs all original.
