Another good possibility.
Contrary to what some may think, I'm not "married" to A.R.C. even
though the book (in the works - Really!) is about them and I am trying
to build up enough pieces to make some installations for photo
purposes, and operate from the Jeep.
The SCR-240/-261 were still possibilities despite the weight (Is it
safe to assume that in comparing weight & space requirements, the
SCR-274's modulator was included?) and, since the typical installation
was two channel instead of four, an "SCR-240/-261 Lite" could easily
have been built and systems lightened at the same time.
By mixing systems a bit, the RAX & TA-12 would make an interesting
installation as well, though I can't remember if the RAX had remote
bandswitching. If not, that could prove a bit sticky.
However, it's clear that the Type K wasn't the only game in town and,
while the Model D derivatives continued to be produced well into the
war, Bendix (if no one else) was ready to step in with their own
products.
Interesting.
Best regards,
Michael, WH7HG
