U-Boats were regularly DF'ed out of some agricultural land in mid town
Ottawa during the war. They had about 30 intercept ops who monitored
specific portions of the HF bands and as soon as a fix could be obtained it
was immeidately passd to the British Admiralty.

One of the operators recently gave a talk on this operation to the local ham
club.
Other operatives were sent to South America under the auspicies of the
British to do similar interception. From talking with one of the living
operators he stated the conditions were not as good as they thought.

Recently one of the Canadians who operated in South America passed away
about 2 weeks ago, in his 90s. Ted Bodman, former owner of Waterloo
Electronics and radio amateur, VE3CD
