SCR-291, was it, was a very good HF DF.
USAF had a lot of them.  And we had a lot
of VHF DF, even before the Navy URD-2.
We had URD-2's all over.  Wullenwebbers(?)
arrived during the early 60's, and were used
a lot for COMSEC monitoring.  They were
also good for locating thunderstorms.
Any DF was not so good before visual
presentations were developed.  Aurial nulls
were usually not effective.  Too many false
nulls.
