You're right, of course.  My previous statement is "inoperative." :-)

He was a pretty good "hot warrior" too.

I worked in his vice-presidential campaign in 1968, though I was a few
years shy of voting age then.  He and Wallace won my state.  IIRC, it
was the best showing of a third party in US history.

I've still got some campaign buttons and bumber stickers somewhere around
here.

He lived to be 93 years of age, passing in 1990.
