[Milsurplus] BC-348 Conversions

Not that I would be crazy enough to modify a “mint” BC-348 I did
recently rebuild a basket case one with what I take to believe to be the
best version or guide for this, the 1948 “CQ Surplus Conversion
Manual” They tell you to install internal AC power supply, replace
audio output transformer and add an S meter circuit. There are almost
limitless changes beyond that like separating the audio and RF gain
control, adding a triode amplifier before the audio output stage and
playing around with the screen resistors and different tubes that were
printed later both in CQ and QST but I would propose that the simple
1948 CQ conversions are the best and all the rest is simply putting a
saddle on a cow.
