Hi,
I used to have an HQ145 but I regrettably sold it. When I can save up
a few pennies I am going to acquire another Hammarlund RX. Until then
I am going to use the clock display from an otherwise defunct modern
coffee pot with a relay to turn on the power strip with the gear
plugged into it.
I use my BC-221 for amateur work and 180 cycles at 15 MHz is
inconsequential to me. What I appreciate is the slow tuning rate and
the tiny short term drift. After a reasonable warm up I don't find my
adjustments affected by BC-221 drift at all. I have used it to align
receiver IFs to their crystal filters and any drift was not a problem
with those. When President Obama calls on me to take over the function
of the time and frequency standards I'll get more serious about that
180 Hz. Until then... I'm enjoying that amateur status and my ancient
BC-221.
73,
Bill KU8H
