Mike and Mike,
Yes, I agree on the soluton being apt for the technology.I have all the components to build an AN/ARC-5 set-up and hopefully it will actually work when complete. However,if there are enhancements that I can build in as I go, that would help with the final outcome. And just to clear the air, only reversable mods will be acceptable.
Now,what will I encounter on the RU/GF set? Not nearly as many relays!
As for building up working examples of radio gear, the hardest part is connectors and cableing. I have yet to achieve competence in cable lacing. You guys have any tutorials on the subject?
Jay

Yes, it would...it's a very common application of diodes to kill inductive
witching spikes across *switches* to coils and solenoids.
I, however, would want to attempt to resolve the problem using components
ontemporary with the equipment...in this case, a resistor.
But, anything that creates a current path through the relay coils, be
t a reversed-biased diode or the resistor I'm so enthusiastic about
rying, can actually cause more delay in relay drop out that is a function
f the the RL circuit that is created (R is equal to the coil resistance
nd swamping resistance, L is inductance of the relay coil).
So, my resistor or your diode could likely make things worse. I'd just
ike to see it tried...six relays in parallel creates a complex situation,
nd all we'd need is a drop in K52 drop out time relative to the K55
elay.
