I've wrinkle finished numerous items over the years and would strongly
suggest staying AWAY FROM the heat gun technique, unless you can heat the
entire item uniformly.

I highly recommend an oven or BBQ for curing to prevent "hot spots", areas
where the wrinkle is tigher, looser, missing, burnt, et cetera.  I have had
a 100% failure rate with the heat gun and 100% success rate using ovens,
BBQs and air drying.

For those refinishing, WalMart carries Winkle and Hammertone paints in
numerous colors for about $5 a can.

1. I have the black crinkle paint from Antique Radio Supply. Do I really
need to cook the finish in my XYL's oven or will will be satisfactory to
warm it with my heat gun?
