[Milsurplus] RU questions

Was looking thru some RU equipment and I have a couple questions:

P-280 phenolic rod - is that for adjusting the coil trimmers?

A flexible tuning cable but only about 10 inches long - what is that
for?
It's really not long enuff to radius a 90 degree bend for a tuning
adapter.

I will have some RU control boxes and connectors and maybe a NIB
RUGF dynamotor for sale in October so if the reader is looking for
components you might send me a want list.  -Hue Miller
