that link will take you to an audio clip that was recorded on Iwo Jima during the invasion.  It's kind of neat because in the broadcast you can hear RTTy very close in frequency.  Whole bunch of clips, some really short and some 15 seconds or so in length on this place.  

Take a listen.  Even a clip of a marine talking to a tank giving him instructions on where to fire at a machine gun position.  Also some of fighter passes over the local airfield disposing of munitions.
