Ron,

I never had to do that to one and sold my last receiver in 2006. But I
think if you were to selectively (meaning don't do all of it) follow the
disassembly and reassembly instructions in NAVAER 16-30ARR41-503, Handbook of
Overhaul Instructions, Radio Receiver AN/ARR-41, it would solve your problem.
This particular manual tells you how to completely disassemble and reassemble
the RF & IF Tuner Assembly, the Megacycles Frequency Indicator and the VFO
Subassembly. I scanned a poor copy of the manual and spent a lot of time
fixing it.

The exploded view photograph I wasn't able to turn into anything useful but
I'll supply a color JPG showing the same thing. Before I sold my last
receiver, I took it all apart and recreated the scene. I was going to convert
it to B&W, then to TIF, and put it into the manual but never solved the
problem of getting rid of the tan background.

Cost of a reprint is $15.00 plus shipping. I also have available (scanned
from originals) the Operator's and the Service manuals, $5.00 and $22.50
respectively.
