Hi Meir,
Expando is a plastic mesh that slips over cable bundles and can be pulled
tight to hold the wires in a bundle. It is sort of like some WW II stuff
used by the RCAF, but that was cotton. (It is a small version of the stuff
used on some wine bottles and candles in jars). For example:

It has been used by most of the big aerospace companies for 30 years +/-
to make custom cables for GSE. It works very nicely, IMO. It's made by
Bentley-Harris.
It can often be either salvaged from useless cables or bought on eBay. New
it's expensve.
Best,
-John

> As John said, get the manual. I got a copy of the manual from Robert,
and it's indispensible in wiring the controls and maintaining the radio.

> My ARB to control box cable was homemade by the previous owner and it's
ugly because the individual wires are all the same color and gauge (#14)
but the length is only 2 feet - and the whole "bowl of spaghetti" is not
encased in a sleeve. I'll have to completely rewire it to look decent
and use the correct gauges. If I recall, the manual calls out the wire
gauges and has an assembly drawing for the control cables - I'll look at
the book when I get home from work. Bear in mind that the control box
switches the primary 24 V feed to the
> dynamotor/filaments so the 24 V line should be large enough to carry the
current without any significant voltage drop for the proposed cable
length. The other wires are just control wires, but the
> bandswitch lines also carry some current at 24 V to the bandswitch
motor. I don't think it's more than an amp or so.

that's not certain.

strand white Teflon hook-up wire, roughly #16 to #20, inside a jacket
of black or white Expando tubing.
