Hi Alan,
actually the ER-95 is not a PRC-77 clone or variant: though strongly
inspired by the PRC-77, it is a different design on itself.

Originally engineered by THOMSON-CFS in France, it has also been built
under license in Italy for the Italian Army by ELMER S.P.A. in Pomezia,
near the city of Rome; and as far as I know it also got issued by the
Portuguese Army.

The channel selector has 50Khz steps like a PRC-25/PRC-77, and the
handset is know as H-33F/PT: actually like an H-33 but having an olive
drab body and a coiled cord:

The VMARS Newsletter and AC7ZL's website have some more info in English
about this transceiver:

As far as I know, the Italian Army employed the ER-95 in 3 different
configurations:
- RV3/13/P: in manpack configuration with a 24v battery box plus short
(AN-225) and long (AN-224) antennas
- RV3/13/V: in vehicular configuration with the standard 2W output, a
BA-301 vehicle power-supply and a fixed mount (SP-203), connected to an
AF amplifier with an integral interphone system
- RV4/213/V: same as a RV3/13/V but with an AM-215 power amplifier
giving a selectable 1,5/10/20W output

There was also a receiving only variant (R-95), usually employed as an
auxiliary receiver onboard command tanks in the armoured forces.

Regards,
Sebastiano - IZ2NYZ
