You said it my 817 is by far tthe best small radio I have ever owned.Mine
has that a after marget battery cant think of the outfit that makes them I
get good service out of it.I also use the radio on my boat for marine side
band.I use a 100 watt broadband amp works like a charm.I use a ols AM ship
to Shore Antenna with a tuner and it works fine.
The military stuff altho I love it and have some its just to troublesome and
mostly hard to fix.I guess thats why we have Jim Karlow. For the cost of a
1099 2000 or 104 and the like as user I dont think so.They are also to costy
to just set on a shelf but if you could find one not working reasonable I
guess that would be ok.Nice display stuff.I have a BC 652 and 53 both brand
new nevr used or had the tubes put in it.Dont have a mounting rack anybody
got one
 Carl
