Here in BC small local companies were contracted to produce the radio
equipment. Also used by our
forest service were VRL (Vancouver Radio Laboratories) and Spilsbury &
Tindall. One common element
was that they were all low power (a few watts) and were AM. We did our
own repairs though & had an extensive radio shop system.
Our former Provincial Police used CW when in the field. Here's a link to

I don't recognize the radio & wonder if it is also "homebrew".
