After a good nights sleep etc I have come to the conclusion I really only  
need a channel 36 xtal. 
 
This tx, called a Sphinx, was made in the 60's/70's by a small back street  
chap in the UK. He used the surplus xtals of the time for the ssb 
generator,  this one is centred on 434Khz. A previous owner thought it a good idea to 
remove  the carrier xtal and replace it with a free running oscillator ! (I 
have no  idea). 
 
Anyway, seems channel 36 is 437kHz so when trimmed down a bit should  
provide the carrier insertion for the balanced modulator at around 436.xx.
 
So, if anyone has a CH36, do let me know.
