First please look at this Detrola radio

    http://www.radioatticarchives.com/radio.htm?radio=4753

A "AA5" radio with both BC & SW for 110 AC/DC. Looks like a GI sorta
box, eh?

It's in Sams #9 & so was built with tooling probably unused during ww2.
And it was tooling from, probably, DeWald radio which had, additionally,
an autoformer to run it on 220 in UK locations

I contend it was a candidate as a morale radio like the R-100.

                    http://qsl.asti.net/R-100/

And it flunked

There's another example here called a Ansley 45A. This is haze gray,
clearly built in '41 or so, and is a 6 tube AC/DC wuth a TRF atage.
Picture on request

Anyone out there share this suppositions that a few mfgr.s made these
babes in hopes that fed orders would follow for morale radios?

As said in "Field of Dreams," "Build it & they will come"
