I can't speak to what might have been done in some specific case but in the
standard SCR-624 and in the DF version, no. When you separate the transmitter
and/or the receiver from the selector rack and cabinet you lose channel
selection and mounting capabilities. Plus you would have to custom make the
necessary cables as none were made for operating the BC-624 or BC-625 separate from
the FT-244 (except no doubt a few for Depot use).
The only place I ever recall seeing loose receivers or transmitters is in
some conversion articles from the late 40's where the transmitter at least was
mounted behind a standard 19" rack panel with knobs or maybe it was vernier
drives on the tuning controls.
