There is a Western Union document on technical progress 1935-1945 where
they say that teleprinters of their own design (the 100-series) were
purchased by the Navy and placed in service aboard three large aircraft
carriers in a shipboard intercommunicating system. They also developed
a typewheel based printer called the "Aircraft" printer for aircraft
and shipboard use. Apparently none of these were produced. They
also developed a projector machine, which was demonstrated at the
1939-1940 New York Worlds Fair, but was never produced in quantity.
