Kinda remarkable that no one brought up the Alexanderson alternator
that ran thru end of WW2 @ Haiku, Hawaii.
It sat mebbe 400' down in a volcano caldero & had it's vertical
suspended from wires across rim. These doubled as a top load
Ran quarter megawatt
Radiation resistanc of 400 fotter @ 16 kc under an ohm. Reactance so
high that maybe a megavolt key-down. Fable goes that all your hair
stood on end when near 'helix house.' (loading coil)
Easy copy in submerged sub* in Tokyo bay
It's why there were RBAs & RAKs

*just visited WW2 sub memorial in Groton, CT
