Another possibility that won't roll off the conveyers but is of course 
subject to chance (of having some of the shorter boxes) is to stack up two or more 8 
x 8 x N or 10 x 10 x N boxes.  But in your case they would need to open on 
the short sides, not down the N length.  For various reasons I keep 8 x 8 x 8 
and 8 x 8 x 36 boxes.  I've had to ship two or three BC-745 Pogo Stick radios 
and used one of each box to make up the necessary length.  I put Elmer's wood 
glue on the flaps before taping them down.  By the time the box gets to the PO, 
the glue is set and the box is as rigid as if it had been one piece.
