Brad,

The later ones didn't have the switch (a lot of the units I have don't have 
them).  And AFAIK all production originally had the fixed vacuum capacitor.  
But most of the capacitors were removed before the units were surplussed (don't 
know why).  Plus a lot of units were modified to BC-442-AM by having the 
capacitor and the end plates and terminals that hold it removed.  It's mentioned in 
one of the revisions to the T.O.
