The source could be the address given or it could be a zombie.  Either way the cause sounds like something malicious installed at that particular ethernet address (which could cause the account located there to act as a zombie). Run linux (or buy a Mac) and nothing can install and run on your PC nor can your PC be turned into a zombie due to the way root is not accessible by the outside world.
