What you fail to mention is the fabled "Kryptonite Core" in the 
modulation transformer.
But isn't the txformer core of the same material as is used in 
"saturable reactors" as used in power supplies to aid in regulation at 
high current loads? Or have I just blown my cover?

Originally 1150V. (750 at high altitudes) but hams regularly run these 
sets at 1500-1600 volts (and higher) and get away with it.  One 
limitation is the zero biased 811s in the modulator and the audio drive 
available from the speech amp.  The mod xformer in the ART-13 will 
handle remarkable power levels considering it's small size.
