Frankly-
messing with the Red Cross's efforts was and is a very bad idea.
If we want our POWs in the future to be given care by orgainizations
like the Red Cross, we can't be mucking around
with their trustworthyness and credibility.
Lies like this always cost more than they pay back.
Their credibility has been compromised by this and more
recent shinannygins. The result is POWs without Red Cross help,
or Red Cross packages that have been "inspected," meaning looted.
I don't see that as positive. And the Red Cross isn't without blame;
they should have told Waddington "NO."
The Red Cross has a purpose and it isn't aiding escapes.
If we want POWs to escape, we need to find a way that doesn't
punish everyone else in the process.
One opinion,
D.S.
