I remember using a 2D21 about 45 years ago in high school - I made a human 
proximity detector based on triggering the thyratron from 60 cps pickup from 
a small loop. I'd turn the sensitivity down until the loop had to be within 
1/4" of a warm body to trigger - then claimed it was a "falsie detector" and 
checked it out on a few girls enlisted in furthering the cause of science - 
ah, youth....
