When the opportunity presented itself, I would visit the "Tank Museum"
at Aberdeen Proving Grounds off I-95 in Maryland.
They have a 44,000 pound example displayed upright in front of the
building that houses every personal weapon build for any armed force,
anywhere. An impressive collection of weapons which bored the wife to
tears. Serves he right for falling asleep when I was driving!
If I remember correctly, the T-12 was simply labeled: "Bomb, General
Purpose".

Since the only US plane able to carry it was the B-36, I assume it was
made for the Brits to use. I guess they already had aircraft able to
carry something this big during WW2.
