The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has a weekly column of satire on
Saturdays, supposedly written by a dead cat who has gone to cat heaven.
Couple of weeks ago he had a letter from a reader asking why the
odor of magnolias in her house, especially around the electric outlets.

Otus [the cat] explained that since electricity is colorless and odorless
the power companies have to add an odor so you can know when it is
leaking out. And after some of the recent storms the power company
had to bring in workers from out of state, such as Mississippi where
the state flower is the magnolia, to restore service. So a side effect
of using Mississippi workers is that we get the Mississippi odor in our
electricity for a while.
