I haven't carefully check the earliest models but would be surprised if they
aren't the same way. All of the (later anyway) GF transmitters and RU
receivers are wired for 14 volt heaters. The only difference between the 14 and 28
volt units of each pair is the nameplate.
A quick ID method for an RU receiver that doesn't have a nameplate is to look
at pin 77 in the connector. The RU's that came with GF's have a wire going
to the cathode of the 77 AGC tube. The standalone RU's have no connection to
pin 77.
FWIW, if anyone should need them someday, I have reprints available of the
NAVAER manuals on the GF-11/RU-16, GF-12/RU-17 and RU-18/RU-19. I also have the
RU-5, RU-11/RU-12, GF-3/RU-4a and GF-10/RU-15 manuals but not yet scanned and
cleaned for reprinting.
I also have, courtesy of a list member, the installation instructions if
anyone has a 75 MM Gun Motor Carriage (Halftrack) they want to put a Marine Corps
radio in. :-)
