Hello,
I am trying figure out what if any antenna was used at 500kc on the NEW JERSEY in its later configuration. There is a fan dipole that tunes down to 2Mc but which I think would be inefficient at 500kc.
Do later transmitters like SRT-15 use a matched output to a 50-ohm line, or do they tune a reactive load like the older TAJ/TBL etc.? If a 50-ohm coaxial, maybe I would be looking for a coaxial feedline to a tuner abovedecks.
I have a feeling that older antenna trunks of WWII vintage may have been used to run the coaxial feedlines installed later.
The project at hand is a preliminary investigation into the feasibility of setting up a TAJ on board.
