In the "modern era" I worked for a defense contractor cranking out modifications to avionics systems. We prepared the kits- all mods. were done in the field/depot. It was common practice to include new aluminum nomenclature tags, stickers, panels, covers and what-have-you as appropriate for re-labeling the equipment. It may have been common practice in WWII, as well...so I don't see a problem with having or being issued an "M" label for the receiver. Or, not. (Today, attaching the new label or swapping a panel was 'another' indication a modification had been completed. In a rush, they may not have bothered....) Bill/KA3AIS
