HF radios on board the IL-14:
Transmitter: R-807, Receiver: US-9. Clones of the ART-13 and BC-348.
The US-9 has an improvement over the BC-348 - the main 24 VDC fuse is on the
front panel, next to the dial light dimmer. In the BC-348 you have to pull
out the receiver from the cabinet to replace fuse.
Also, later US-9 runs were made with solid-state inverters instead of the
dynamotor.
The receivers were manufactured up to 1977 at least, I know of one example
with that date on the nameplate. My US-9 has 1967 manufacturing date.
The ART-13 and BC-348 plugs all fit the R-807/US-9 connectors except the
ART-13 power plug shell has to be sanded down a little to fit inside the
connector - which is just a hair smaller in diameter than the ART-13
connector. The threads and the pins fit OK.
My R-807/US-9 should be on the air shortly, as soon as I get to make up the
cables and I have other higher priority projects...
The DY-17/ART-13 will work fine with the R-807 as I don't have the original
Russian dynamotor.
Incidentally, I don't believe there is more radiation from the R-807/US-9
than from the ART-13/BC-348. At any rate, I won't scrape the paint and won't
inhale the scrapings...
