No- it looks like a loop but it's not.A most basic variant of this antenna was simply wires zigzagging across the roof of a truck
between two wooden rails.
I think maybe the last time we went around on this, i said i had read that this frame antenna
was discontinued later in the war, and with replacement going to a "Star Antenna", a thing with
long downward pointing capacity hat. Kinda like an umbrella skeleton but not totally unfolded.
It might have been harder to repair or replace compared to the star antenna. Maybe also easier
to damage.
If someone still maintains it was a loop antenna, we should look at the output circuit of the
transmitter that loaded the antenna. Which is conventional.
The German vehicles seem (to me) (not totally unfounded) to have used these mobile frequencies:
1000-3000 kcs.
24-25 Mcs.
27-38 Mcs.
and i think also 38-44 Mcs. for ground-air coordination.
I recently bought a bunch of German manual reprints from a DL ham. Don't have time to look
up his address right now, later. There's one manual i got previously, something like "Behilfsmaessige
Kraftwagen..." which shows a number of vehicle radio setups as well as the "frame antenna", if
you're interested; i'm sure he has it.
