Regarding the French Thomson TRC-300 hf rig.

I took mine off the shelf to play with, knew the batteries needed changing
so dug out the original cells and cleaned the battery box up. While I thought
how best to refill it I put it on an external supply only to find the auto
tune atu was not working. It appears to be 'hunting' and unable to know when its
on tune.

Ah I thought, easy, obviously there must be a swr board in it, probably one
of the diodes had somehow, while switched off and on the shelf, gone u/s.

(I don't understand how things go faulty when they sit on shelves. Obviously
it was working the last time I used it and put it out to rest.)

Anyway, opens up the atu. Oh my gwad !!! there is a lot of stuff in there. I
cannot really figure it but I can see three sets of ferrite rings with wires
and diodes near so its measuring forward and reflected power etc but there is
a whole bunch of electronics in there, even tuned circuits that look VHF if
not UHF in frequency, God knows what they are measuring. Anyway, its more
than a 1N914 that's needed.

So, does anyone have circuits ? I did find one web site where the guy
stated he had info but have had no replay to a request as of yet.

cheers, Ben G4BXD
