Jack - good point. Another example would be the AM boat
radios built out of BC-375s, ARBs, and BC-654s by a couple
of firms in California.

I have come to appreciate well-done "c*nversions" ( sorry about
using that word ). I would like to some a website collection of photos
of nicely done modified equipment. For example a SSB rig built out
of a Command Set. ( Anyone with the ability and smarts to be able
to do that, is pretty sure to do a neat job. )

I saw a BC-348 a few years back that it took me some minutes to
recognize it, the repackaging was so radical. But- if one held no
a priori purist complaints, it actually looked like a neat receiver.
I do regret not buying it at the time. -Hue
