Mike and the group,

The LP-31 is electrically the same as the LP-21, but is mechanically 
different. Basically it does not have the
streamlined football, and a different mounting base.

According to TO 08-10-175;  "It is designed for use in pressurized-cabin 
aircraft, and is intended for mounting
within a plastic blister-type housing which is a part of the aircraft 
fuselage. Loop LP-31-A is functionally
and electrically identical to Loop LP-21-A."
