[Milsurplus] Flat top flight deck

a few years ago I was a guest of the Admiral of the carrier task force 
out of San Diego on the John C. Stennis CVN-74 as a group of 10 men we 
had a guide and toured the ship from bow to stern, top to the bottom and 
on the flight deck right up to the foul line while trapping, F-18, E-6 
Prowlers. We were at the point where we could touch them just by 
stepping over the white line. They were doing day/night carrier 
qualifying. We were supposed to go aboard by C-2 COD but they were all 
in the mideast so we did not get trapped or a CAT shot. We went on board 
in a HUP-21? and off on a S-43 Infuriated palm trees trying to beat 
themselves to death. Very interesting 30 hours it is a true ballet of 
teamwork, average age was in mid twenties. Radio room was off limits and 
CCI and the reactor other than that it was open ship. The cost on board 
was for rations like $9.51 total general mess  for morning and midday 
and Admirals mess for the evening meal. This is an ongoing thing 
arranged by the Navy League.
