Well, if it was bread or air or water they were selling, i'd say a revolt was due. 
But you don't REALLY need what they have. If it's too high, don't buy, look
elsewhere or abandon that project, but being resentful is maybe not appropriate,
altho i too have criticized NS. I didn't like the vibe when i visited there, but i have
to admit, that was a long time ago, ca. 1995, and probably that judgement is 
obsolete now.  
On the other hand, you have to admit FAIR at least in the past, sold a few items
too CHEAP. Like GRC-9 and GRC-109.
 
I too have paid more for a manual than for its equipment. One time, i got 2 signal
generators for $20 or less, then paid $125 for the two manuals in PHOTOCOPY.
But it was, i guess, worth it to me to complete the effort i'd started. I'm sure
others here have done the same. Supply and demand, works on the large and
