I think with the "monitor"switch you could tune up on frequency and
then the final tuning was done according to charts as these controls
were switches not infinately variable.Or am I missing something ? My
AN/ART-13A has been idle for so long...
BTW,as far as I know the "monitor" switch was "custom" for each
aircraft.It was not a component per se but something the aircrew or
service guys installed.
Comments please?

So for an ATC equiped plane, the day's or week's frequency could
be tuned up on each planes ATC without tuning up the final, and
radiating a signal, is this correct? I am still trying to understand how
the HF stuff was tuned to the antenna under conditions of radio silence.
