Hey Rob I'll say.  Didja notice site below insisted Joan was HF?  Dipole
size looks like 200mhz.  And there's a no kiddin' Yagi option for the
plane-located Eleanor

Guessed Joan was xtal controlled but too small.  Joan likely an
acorn-tubed super-regen xcvr.  Like tha Abbot the coastwatchers
reportedly used

I thot it J-E was a relay system & maybe the precursor of the over-
channel VHF relays used at end of WW2.  Not so, wire recorder in plane

I noted Eleanor p-s made by Freed Radio (sn 7) & wire recorder by GE.
