That's the genius of the BC-221. The same master oscillator is used to
set both the receiver (with radiation from the MO) and of transmitter
(beating against the MO). Nothing is switched in the MO circuit, and,
being battery powered, it could likely be taken from plane to plane
while operating to set/check all the sets before a mission.
Very elegant, IMO.
