Ben,

There were two TCS's (don't recall the model number) in service aboard USS
Valley Forge (LPH-8) when I got off Active Duty in November 1968. They were
installed when the ship was commissioned in 1946 and while I was aboard got used
at least every time we got underway and until we dropped the tugs and cleared
the sea buoy.

As far as pulling the AC from the receiver power cable is concerned (there is
none in the transmitter cable) don't forget that it and the transmitter cable
both have 230 VDC on some of the wires. Having forgotten this, I once spent
a full day trying to figure out why a receiver on the bench was deaf. No
screen voltage on a 12SK7 will do this. :-)
