I don't think suppressing the back emf off the relays will in any way 
affect the 'tone' of the CW signal. Might lengthen the life of diodes 
and such in the 12v line though.
 
After all, I don't think the designers of sets really thought some 
nutter would still be using them in 60 years hence.  Their life 
expectancy must have been counted in weeks.
