The recently updated web site has charts
of typical NVIS Ham Bands, based upon
foF2 Ionospheric measurements.
The most recent chart is an example of
the NVIS ham bands for Central California,
over the past several days, based on the
foF2 measured by the Point Arguello Ionosonde.
At the present time in Central California,
our Best Ham Bands for NVIS are:
Local Time
60 meters Sunrise to Noon.
40 meters Noon to 2PM
60 meters 2PM to Sunset
75 meters Sunset to 2 hours after sunset
160 meters Night
75 meters Sunrise to 2 hours after sunrise
Also presented, is an older chart for UK
best NVIS ham bands based on the foF2 in
April 2006 as measured by the Chilton Ionosonde.
Both of these are good examples of typical
patterns of best NVIS ham bands in the
mid-latitudes.
If you click on either chart, it will take
you to the hourly world foF2 map.
