Not just for in-formation talking.  There
wasn't much of that going on.  WWII
airplanes flew a lot of places overseas
and in the ZI.  The pilot/copilot talked
to air traffic control stations and other
stations.  Even in combat zones the radio
operator was more of a gunner than a 375
operator.  There were rules, and it seems
that every command had their own, when to
carry a radio operator.  Like over water,
on international flights, etc.  I wasn't
a radio operator, but I occupied the radio
position many times on this old C-47 we had.
