Actually the part about the rectum is spelled out for the "summoned physician", not the operator. So you only need to hope the doc washes his hands before he comes back to his office and does a prostate check on some unsuspecting soul.....

Actually I like the part about "seizing the coattails or any piece of loose clothing" to yank the victim away as long as he is in contact with earth. Whaddya do - take out your ohmmeter and see if the guy is grounded?

This must be a fairly popular book. According to the preface it was first published in 1907. Mine is the 1913 edition.
