Sometime back in January there was a discussion on the MilSurplus reflector about the number of
SCR-284 radios bought by the Signal Corps.

I found my copy of the procurement records this evening and I have that information.

In total, the Signal Corps purchased 63,972 units.  This total breaks down as follows: 1940: 0,
1941:0, 1942: 13,585, 1943: 28,618, 1944: 21,769, 1945: 0.
